87 Best Side Hustles (Easier Money Than You Think)

best side hustles

What are the best side hustles to start in 2022?

I’ve compiled the ultimate list of side hustle ideas here for you — and I’d say that several of these ideas are pretty magical.

Read on to find out my top picks.

In this digital age, now more than ever we have the ability to improve our financial futures by investing some of our free time into building a small business on the side of our full time work (a.k.a. a “side hustle”).

If you’re interested in starting a side hustle, building passive income, or working online from the comfort of your own home, then this article is for you as I’ve compiled some of the best ideas for each.

With fears of recession looming and having just come out of the COVID era where so many jobs that once felt completely secure now seemed vulnerable, each of us should take control of our financial future by starting a “side hustle” of some type.

This is like an insurance plan for your job.

If your company downsizes tomorrow, do you have a backup plan to make more money? How would you handle the financial stress?

If the economy goes into a full blown recession, do you have a way to supplement (or replace) your income if it gets that bad?

This is why it’s essential to begin preparing now. If you are not already doing this, now is the time to start a side hustle.

But not all side hustles are created equal.

In my opinion, the best side hustles make money online because they offer the most time freedom, location freedom, and income potential — so the main focus will be online businesses. (And if you’re ready to start your online business journey, check out my other post on the top laptops for working from home so you can get started with the right equipment).

However, I’ll still include some of the best side hustle ideas you can accomplish in person if that’s more your style.

Remember, when choosing a side hustle to start, take account of your current resources, skills, and passions to help you narrow down what the quickest path to make money is for you.

Don’t start a side hustle as a graphic designer if you have no artistic inclination. Don’t start something as a copywriter if you hate writing. Stick to things you already have some foundation in, and the path to income will be much quicker for you.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, here are my top 87 side hustle ideas to earn extra money that you can start today.

WHAT ARE THE BEST SIDE HUSTLES?

1. Start a blog

You may be thinking, “Wait I thought blogging was dead?”

Nope. Blogging is more alive than ever, because more than ever people use search engines to find products and learn new skills. That’s where blogs come in – one of the best side hustles.

blog side hustle

If you have a skill that you can teach, then you can make money doing it through a blog on the side of your full time job. And the ways that you can make money through a blog are numerous.

There’s traditional ads of course; but if you can become skillful in affiliate marketing, consulting within your niche, and/or selling courses/products by building an email list and selling to them, the revenue potential is great (many bloggers are making 100,000+ per year if they know what they’re doing and provide a lot of value, and many who know how to monetize correctly are even making $1,000,000+ per year).

Start a blog, write great content, get it ranking high on Google through SEO & high quality backlinks, and keep doing that over and over again until you’ve built an incredible side hustle income.

2. Freelance on sites like Fiverr or Upwork

More and more people are turning to sites like Fiverr and Upwork for services than ever. That means that the market there is growing, as well as the need for skillful freelancers.

There are so many opportunities to make extra money there if you have a computer and have any skills whatsoever in areas like writing, editing, video work, graphic design, photoshop, coding, and more. You can easily make $100/day doing freelance work if you work hard at growing your brand, and the more 5 star reviews you get, the higher you can charge for your services.

Top tier freelancers are earning $1000+ per day. The great thing about freelancing is that you can begin earning extra money from day one. It’s one of the best side hustles.

3. Start a Faceless Youtube Channel

Youtube is one of the most used search engines in the world, and people turn to Youtube for everything from entertainment, to skill development, to product reviews. And so it makes for a great side hustle.

You’ll need some basic video editing and shooting skills (or some money to hire people to do that for you), but beyond that just pick a niche that has good demand and revenue potential (and that you have some experience/interest in), and start putting out content.

The more videos you put out, the more you’ll know what people want or don’t want, and the more you can tweak your process to engage the viewers more. Success leaves clues, so look at videos of top Youtubers within your niche and model (but don’t copy) what they are doing to make it work.

If you want to make it into a passive income machine, go with a faceless video model so you can automate the whole process (from script writing, editing, voiceover, etc.). The best side hustles are ones that you can build in your spare time, and a faceless Youtube channel fits the bill.

4. Grow a following on Social Media

How many times have you checked your social media today? If you’re on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or any of the other platforms, chances are you follow people who are making a lot of money from their following.

The hard part is growing the social media following, but once you’re there it’s pretty easy to make a living from it. You can sell products of your own, get paid for sponsorship posts, make money through affiliate marketing, or any number of other ways to generate revenue. Social media isn’t going anywhere, so you might as well jump on board the train.

5. Start an Ecommerce Store

Ecommerce is a booming industry, with 2021 generating $870 billion in revenue (up almost 15% from 2020). You can get a piece of the pie by creating an online store using a service like Shopify or Squarespace, and sell a product that either you create yourself, or that you dropship from other wholesalers.

Great thing about this is that after setting up a good PPC (pay per click) advertising campaign, with a virtual assistant, this can be run fairly passively down the line as well.

6. Sell stickers (and stuff) on Redbubble

I love stickers. You love stickers. And apparently the rest of the world does too. Redbubble allows you to create custom artwork, and use their Print On Demand engine to get that artwork into the hands of customers (without you ever having to touch it).

stickers side hustle

You upload your artwork onto Redbubble, and customers can choose to buy your artwork as a sticker, cup, phone case, or other physical product. Redbubble prints your art onto the product, and ships it out. Once you get your artwork uploaded, it’s extremely hands off, so it’s a great way to make more money as aside hustle!

7. Sell on Etsy

If you’re crafty and prefer making physical products yourself, Etsy is a great little side hustle. When you search for your product description on Google, chances are that the first few results are from Etsy, which means that putting your items on Etsy will produce a ton of organic customers.

Create your custom sign, coloring book, printable product (coloring sheet, calendar, greeting card, etc.) fashion accessories, and more, and upload the information onto an Etsy listing. This makes selling your physical & digital products extremely easy.

8. Sell an online course

If you have spent a good portion of your life learning a skill (or are willing to learn the skill so well that you can teach it), then selling a course with online course platforms like Udemy or your own site can be a highly profitable side hustle idea.

If you know how to use a specialized software program really well (think GarageBand, Photoshop, etc.), know how to play a musical instrument, know a lot about real estate investing, or any other number of skills, then you can create an online course and get paid on autopilot once it’s uploaded to the course site.

9. Long Term Investing

Investing in the stock market or cryptocurrency market can produce incredible returns over the long haul, and can also pay you in dividends each year just for owning the stock. A total world fund like VT will pay around 2% each year just to own the shares, and you get the benefit of the long term growth opportunity.

If you’re looking for higher dividends, companies like AT&T, Best Buy, Sturm Ruger, and more will pay you every year just to own their stock as well (and these are around 5% at the time of this writing). The more you learn about how to value a company, and the more you learn about proper risk management, the more you can venture into owning individual growth and value stocks that offer higher returns (but also higher risk).

Another thing you’ll want to consider as you are investing in the stock market is protecting some of your wealth in the event of a major downturn or rising inflation. Consider putting some of your wealth into something like a precious metals IRA to give you some peace of mind in the middle of volatile markets like we’ve experienced recently.

The key here is dollar cost averaging into everything (stocks, bonds, precious metals, crypto, etc.) – it’s your friend in long term investing. Check out this list of books to get started learning.

10. Real Estate Investing

The majority of millionaires own real estate, and not just their primary residence. In fact, it’s said that 90% of all millionaires became wealthy through real estate. Start saving money each month to put towards a down payment, and keep setting aside money each month even after you purchase your first property.

Do this every month, and in 10 years you’ll look up and see that you own multiple rental properties producing more money than you you thought possible every month in rental income, appreciation, and tax benefits. This is an almost foolproof plan to retirement. If you want to take it a step further, learn how to fix and flip the property (where tens of thousands of dollars can be made in just a few short months).

Word of caution here, make sure you research and do this wisely, as foolishly jumping into something you don’t understand can set you back many years in your financial journey. Biggerpockets is a great place to start learning.

11. Trading Stocks/Crypto

Many thousands of people each year make consistent money through trading stocks and crypto as a side hustle – the only problem is that many times more people lose through trading (they say that only 5% of people who attempt trading are actually profitable long term).

Begin with the basics of trading, commit to learning every day from reliable sources, start small (with risking $1 per trade or less until you are consistent), and you can provide an incredible form of side income via trading. But, jump in too fast and gamble all of your money on one trade, and you can watch your account value disappear faster than you ever thought possible.

Expect to be learning for 3-5 years before you can reliably call this a side income – but once you are consistent this can easily make you $1000+ per day in extra money in just a few short hours every day. Large Cap Daytrader is a fantastic place to learn.

12. Selling Options

Similar to trading stocks and crypto, you can make an incredible income by selling options, however if you jump in without knowing what you are doing you can watch your hard earned money vanish before your eyes.

Start with learning how to trade straight up stocks before you ever touch option selling, but once you have a firm grasp on risk management, self control, how to read the market, and fundamentals, selling options can provide a fairly steady income boost. Again, the word of warning is to make sure you spend plenty of time learning how to do this wisely first before you jump in with real money. Options Millionaire is a fantastic place to learn.

13. Start a podcast

podcast side hustles

Podcasting is a multi billion dollar industry, and is only growing. If you like to talk or like to interview people, this can be an incredibly lucrative vehicle for building a side income. You can even set up a Podcast studio with all of your sound and video eqiupment in a spare room on the side of your full time job. Find a niche that is under-served, and provide incredible value to them, and you can eventually make this side hustle your main hustle.

14. Dropshipping on Shopify

Don’t want to create your own product but still want to be in the e-commerce game? Then dropshipping on Shopify may be the perfect avenue for you.

With this business model, you have your own business but don’t have to keep any inventory or worry about shipping, you just advertise a manufacturer’s product; and once a customer buys from you, the wholesaler packs and ships the product directly to your customer.

You’ll need to set up a website and source your products from the wholesalers first, and once you do that, focus on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and advertising. The great thing about this is that once it’s set up and optimized, it can provide be a fairly passive way to earn more money.

15. Flip on Ebay/Amazon via Arbitrage

This is the oldest business model in the world, buy low and sell high. The idea here is to search your local stores for items that are underpriced (either on sale, or just cheaper than what people are paying online).

You go to your local Walmart or similar store for just a few hours each day, buy the product from the store, list it on Ebay or Amazon, sell it there, and keep the profit. Opportunities for this are all around you (you can even start by just selling old stuff around your house), you just have to open your eyes to them (there are also apps that can help you determine quickly if something is a good value).

16. Become a Virtual Assistant

The demand for virtual assistants is steadily growing each year, as more and more people seek help for the monotonous tasks of their life and move their businesses online.

If you are organized, good at communication, and enjoy helping make people’s lives easier, this can be a great little side hustle idea to make some money on the side of your full time job.

17. Photographer

I don’t know about you, but I’ve paid more money than I’d like to admit for photos of my family – but each time it’s been worth it.

That’s the great thing about this business…if you take good photos and are a likable person, people will beg you each year to come take their photos and pay you hundreds of dollars each time to do so.

You can photograph weddings, engagements, family photos, graduations, portraits, etc. As with anything, the more you build your side hustle here, the more you can charge which can help make this into a full time job if you want it to (or just a really great side hustle income for that yearly vacation).

18. Drive Uber or Lyft

uber side hustle

Sign up as a driver for a rideshare company like Uber or Lyft and make money on your schedule driving people in your own car to places they need to be.

If you enjoy driving, know your city well enough, and like people, this can be a great side hustle to earn some extra money on nights and weekends (usually $15-$20 per hour).

19. Drive for Doordash

If you enjoy driving, but DON’T like people as much, this can be a better option than Uber or Lyft since you are just the delivery person. Again, this can be done on the side of your full time job and provides a solid $15+ per hour to deliver food.

20. Custom Furniture Building

Are you handy and enjoy making tables, lampstands, shelves, and more? This is a great way to make more money by putting your skills to work.

People are willing to pay a hefty sum for finely made wooden or metal furniture, and you can easily advertise it on Facebook Marketplace or similar sites when you’re first starting.

21. Turo Car Rental

This is a great option if you have an extra vehicle that mostly sits, but can even be a good option (even if you use your car most days) because you can still rent it out on the weekends or your days off. This can earn you a fairly passive $40+ per day of extra money on the side depending on the type of car you have.

22. Airbnb Host

If you have a vacation home, this is an incredible option to start making passive income. But you can still include this as a side hustle even if you just have a spare bedroom you can rent out. Many hosts are making $1000+ per month renting out their spare room.

23. House hack a duplex

This is a twist on the real estate investing option. This basically means that you buy a duplex, live on one side of it, and rent out the other side.

This is an incredible way to begin your real estate investing journey, and often times the tenant you have can pay for your entire mortgage, meaning you live rent free while building equity in a home. That’s my kind of side hustle!

24. Freelance AI Writing

With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), tools are popping up everywhere that utilize this incredible technology. Enter Jasper.ai, an artificial intelligence writing tool that will take your writing to the next level.

You can offer your writing services on sites like Fiverr, and use Jasper to write about 5 times faster than you can alone. That means 5 times the income just by using a simple tool.

25. Niche Websites

With niche websites, your goal is to find a narrow niche (instead of the broad niche of “dogs”, think instead something specific like “Ostrich Skin Dog Collars”), and then build a website that caters to the small group of people who are interested in that (you can sell them products through dropshipping or just review products and make money through affiliate links).

These types of websites typically aren’t making $100,000’s but can easily bring in $500-$1000+ a month if it is optimized for Search Engines and has a good design. Imagine building a portfolio of 5-10 of these sites making money online doing $1000/month running on almost complete autopilot.

26. App Development

If you have a coding background and have any experience building apps, app development has a crazy amount of demand. That’s because Apple’s app store alone grosses more than $60 billion a year, so more than ever companies are trying to get a piece of that pie. You can make plenty of extra money on the side doing app development as a side gig.

27. Graphic Design

Every company in the world needs a good graphic designer, and most of the time they are willing to pay a premium to a contractor that they can just hire on an as-needed basis.

You can market your services on your own site, LinkedIn, Fiverr, or email outreach, and can make anywhere from $500-$5,000+/month doing this.

28. Coding

learn to code side hustle

If you do coding for your day job or on the side for fun, you might as well get paid extra for it at night. This skill is in incredible demand, as businesses more and more are embracing technology as the most efficient way forward.

You can put this skill to work in building phone apps, WordPress plugins, AppSumo apps, websites, etc.

If you want to make this your side hustle to make a few extra bucks, put your name out there on freelance websites, and reach out to your contacts in the industry to see if anyone is looking for help on the side.

Who knows, your side hustle here could lead to some incredible opportunities you never dreamed of down the road.

29. Pay Off Your Debt

I know this one isn’t exactly a hustle for earning money, but if you’ve ever paid off debt before you’ll agree that’s definitely a type of hustle.

Think about this, if you’re paying $300/month in credit cards, paying that off immediately increases your income by $300/month with no extra work (after it’s paid off, of course).

Not only is this a great way to increase your disposable income each month, it also greatly increases your peace of mind as you wake up every day knowing you’re debt free. Learn to save money well, so you can free yourself from the chains of debt that keep you broker than you should be.

30. Online Tutoring

If you have any background in the education field, with sites like Chegg and Wyzant you can sign up to tutor and make a really great side hustle income doing what you love. Expect to make between $15-$40 an hour depending on your experience — perfect for some more money in your pocket each week.

31. Consulting

If you have any marketing and business management experience (you’ll probably want to have some sort of management experience at the very least), consulting can pay a lot of money in not that much time if you can find clients. One of the easiest ways to find clients is to sign up for Fiverr as a consultant.

You’ll be offering your advice and insight to other small businesses most of the time to help them work more efficiently, and get rewarded handsomely to do it. Small businesses will happily pay you $500 if you can help them make $2000.

32. Affiliate Marketing

This goes hand in hand with several other topics I already mentioned (like Youtube, a blog, niche sites, social media, etc.) but I felt like it deserved its own spot on the list since it has a ton of profit and growth potential.

Affiliate marketing is such an amazing business model because you don’t have to create the product, you don’t have to ship it, you don’t have to handle returns…all you do is build an audience, promote the product, and get paid a commission to do so.

Now you’ll want to make sure you’re only promoting products that you’re willing to stand behind (as your reputation is EVERYTHING in this business), but this is a great way to begin building a passive income on the side.

33. Write Novels/Ebooks

You don’t have to be Stephen King or J.K. Rowling to be able to make money writing books. If you have a knack for storytelling, writing, and a bit of promotion, then you can make a great side income from this.

This can be anything from Sci-Fi stories, to “How To Lose Weight” informational books you start selling online. Do some market research into what types of books are selling well, what niches are under-served (content-wise), and start writing. You can start by selling your ebooks on Amazon and go from there.

This is a great one that turns into passive type of income after you’ve completed the book and gotten it online.

34. Amazon FBA

If you have a product you want to sell, but don’t want to deal with a website or shipping, Amazon FBA is a great side hustle.

You’ll still need to figure out how to promote your product (as you’re competing with the thousands of other products on there), but can be pretty hands off once you get the inventory over to Amazon.

You’ll need to invest in inventory from the start though, so if you don’t have much money starting out, dropshipping might be a better alternative.

35. Take Online Surveys

With sites like Survey Junkie you can earn money taking online surveys from the convenience of your home. Sign up for their program, get the app, and make anywhere from $5-$12 per hour taking surveys while you watch Netflix.

The pay isn’t amazing, but not bad for answering questions on an app while eating Cheetos.

36. Custom Digital Artwork for Fandoms

art side hustle

If you have some artistic skills, you can make a decent amount of money drawing custom digital pieces for fans of certain shows or groups. You can advertise on Fiverr something like “I’ll draw you as a Jedi” or “I’ll draw you as a Wizard/Elf”, and people will happily pay you to draw interesting pictures of them as their favorite characters.

37. Ebook Selling on Amazon

If you don’t want to create an entire website around a topic, but have an idea for an information product that could serve people, then putting your Ebook on Amazon is a great way to build some passive income.

Do some market research to determine what products are selling, and how you can improve on them, and get to writing.

38. Video Editing

Companies, social media “influencers”, and bloggers are turning to video more and more to get their message out there.

If you have some video editing skills, you can put those to work by editing videos for individuals or companies, and you can charge a hefty sum to do so. Editing a video properly takes a lot of time and skill, so you can charge accordingly.

39. Domain flipping

Just like people flip houses, cars, and shoes, you can also flip website domains. Do some research on what domains aren’t taken that you think have a future, buy them up, and sit on them until you find a buyer that you can sell it to a little higher.

40. Real Estate Agent

The great thing about being a real estate agent is that you can make a really good income by doing it in your “off” hours. If you sell a $400,000 house, you get a commission of $10,000+ for your efforts. If you like people, are decent at sales, and enjoy looking at homes, this may be a fantastic option for you. As a realtor you can make as much money as you want with a little hard work.

41. Lead Generation for Local Service Businesses

This is more of an up-and-coming side hustle that I don’t hear many people talking about, so let me explain it a little.

This side hustle is all about connecting potential clients to local service businesses, and you do that through your own site.

So if you’re targeting people looking for plumbers in Denver, you set up a professional looking website like (example) “www.denverplumbingtoday.com” and make a landing page with basic plumbing information and pictures.

You advertise online for that city within Google, and put a phone number as the contact. You then have that phone number (from your phone system) transfer directly to the actual plumbing company (that you have a pre-arranged deal with on how much they’ll pay you per lead), and they take it from there.

You can set up 10 of these in every medium sized city in the U.S. and rake in the passive income as you help local businesses get customers. Examples would be for plumbers, handyman, lawn care, tow trucks, electricians, etc.

42. Jewelry Making

Have a talent for arts and crafts? You can start putting those skills to work earning more money by making handmade jewelry.

Find a few items that you know sell well and start advertising on Etsy, Ebay, and Facebook. You could also get a booth at your local conventions to sell from a booth.

43. “We Haul Junk”

All you need is a truck and a little advertising to make some great side income hauling other peoples’ trash. You could start by only hauling things that you can fit in the bed of your truck (old couches, appliances, scrap, etc.), and invest in a trailer once you have some revenue coming in. This little side hustle can earn you extra money this weekend if you want it to.

44. Freelance writing

There is a ton of demand for good writers in so many different sectors. From novelists to bloggers, advertisers to brick and mortar companies, everyone needs writing done for their businesses.

If you are a decent writer, you can make extra income by putting yourself out there in freelance writing. You can start by advertising on Fiverr or Upwork, and then set up your own website so you can keep more of the profits from your work.

45. Personal Training

personal trainer side hustle

Are you into fitness? The health and fitness industry is booming as more and more people realize the need for staying in shape. You can start by advertising on your local Facebook Marketplace and go from there as you build your business. What better way to make a side income than helping other people become healthy? And you can do this on the side of your day job any day of the week.

46. Stock Photography Selling

If you have a camera, then you can make money selling your photos on places like Shutterstock and iStock Photos. This is a numbers game since you typically earn less than $0.50 per photo per month, so the more high quality and interesting photos you can take, the more you can make. And once they are uploaded, it becomes a great source of passive money coming in.

47. Home Bakery

If you love baking, a home bakery may just be the perfect choice for a side hustle for you. You can take orders (cookies, pies, cakes, pastries, etc.) from people for birthdays, parties, and events, and make some extra cash putting your skills to work.

48. House Cleaning Business

No one likes cleaning their own house, and that’s where you can step in. If you’re the type who likes to get your hands messy, you can do the work yourself. Or if you’re more of the hands-off type, you can subcontract out the work.

Set up a website, get it ranking on Google via SEO (search engine optimization), and start taking orders from new clients. This can easily become a full time income if you treat it like a real business.

49. Dog Walking Service

The pet industry is booming, and let’s face it, many people don’t have time to give Fido the exercise he needs. If you like dogs, you can make some great cash filling this need for people around your town (usually the wealthier clients are the way to go here). Now this is a fun side hustle — you get paid to walk dogs!

A cheap way to advertise your dog walking service quickly would be to make up 1000 business cards with your info, and place them on peoples’ windshields at your local mall or grocery stores. Boom. Get extra money just to walk dogs!

50. Nanny

If you like being around kids, being a nanny can pay pretty well. My suggestion would be to target higher end clients as well who are willing to pay a higher hourly rate for someone they can trust.

51. Donating Plasma

Want to make some extra income while helping save lives? Donating plasma can be a great way to supplement your income, although it does come with a few side minor side effects (fatigue, lightheadedness, bruising from the needle).

You usually make $50+ per donation, so you can make $400+ per month if you donate twice a week (although that may be a bit much depending on how your individual body handles the side effects). Plasma is always in high demand, so it’s one of the most reliable side hustles.

52. Print On Demand Tshirt Business

Have some ideas for some clever tshirts but don’t want to invest in all the printing equipment yourself? You can start a print on demand tshirt business using a company like Printful

Advertising your products using social media “influencers” is a way that many Tshirt companies have created sales, but you could advertise through Facebook ads as well. Get a store set up via Shopify and start your side hustle tshirt business.

53. Teach Music Lessons

music lessons side hustle

If you know how to play an instrument you can easily sell your services for $30-$80 per hour to teach people. Obviously the more advanced you are, the higher you can charge, but even if you are just an intermediate you can still teach beginners everything you know and be payed well for it.

You can advertise by putting out signs on street corners and you can put out flyers or business cards at your local community groups, schools, and churches.

54. Vending Machine Business

Once you find the right location for a vending machine, it provides a mostly passive money for years to come, but you’ll need to invest some money up front into purchasing the machines.

There are plenty of people making $10,000+ per month with a fleet of vending machines spread out around their town. Buy you snacks and drinks at wholesale/bulk prices, and mark them up to sell individually in the machines, and you have a fairly low risk way to make a passive money.

55. Bookkeeping

If you have any accounting skills, tons of businesses are in need of bookkeeping and are willing to pay for those services. You can charge $20+ per hour to keep a company’s books for them, all from the comfort of your own home using online expense tracking software like Quickbooks.

56. Voice Acting

With the rise of Youtube, voice acting has never had a higher demand.

If you have a voice that is buttery smooth, unique, or just pleasant to listen to, you can make good money charging others to read their script into a microphone. This is a fantastic remote-work job that can create a great side income.

57. Handyman Services

Do you fix stuff around your house all the time? If so, you have the skills necessary to fix stuff around other peoples’ houses as well. You can charge over $50 per hour for this service if you know what you’re doing, and can make $100+ per hour if you learn how to price jobs correctly and only take on profitable ones.

Handyman Marketing Machine is a great place to learn how to make an incredible side income or turn it into a full time business.

58. Gutter Cleaning

Do you like cleaning your own gutters? Of course not! And nobody else does either. That’s why people are so willing to pay someone else to take care of that problem for them. All you need is a truck, some ladders, and no fear of heights to start making income from this side hustle.

59. Light Bulb Changing for High End Clients

Ok, hear me out on this one.

Wealthy people want convenience, and they want fewer things to have to keep up with. So here’s a creative idea for you.

Get a ladder and a bulb changing pole, advertise a lightbulb changing service and say, “I’ll come out once per month and change every light bulb you have so that you never have to worry about it.” You’d be surprised how many wealthy people would be happy to pay for this or a similar service.

60. ATM’s

If you’ve ever used an ATM at a gas station, you know how ridiculous the ATM fees are and how you were happy to pay it (because you actually needed it at the time). You can buy ATM machines and set them up at gas stations, bars, dispensaries (if it’s legal in your state), or other “cash heavy” businesses and rake in the money through ATM fees.

You’ll need some up front money to invest in the machines and in the cash to stock inside the machines. You’ll also want to make sure and bolt them down securely to prevent theft, but these can be an incredible passive money source.

61. Shoe Flipping

shoe reselling side hustle

The aftermarket shoe market is more alive than ever as people are buying up sought after sneakers and reselling them for a profit. If you are knowledgeable about shoes, this can be a great side hustle to get into where you can make serious money.

62. Sell on FB Marketplace, OfferUp, Craigslist

Prefer to do things in person and hate the idea of setting up a website? You can always sell art, furniture, products, or services on local sites. You can even just flip items on Craigslist if you don’t want to create anything.

If you are knowledgeable about a certain niche, take advantage of the market and buy low to sell high. For example, if you workout a lot, you can buy up someone’s old rusty weights, take a wire brush and clean them up, repaint them, and sell them for a hefty profit.

63. Run Facebook Ads for Businesses

Spend your spare time learning how to properly run Facebook advertisements for businesses, and you’ll never run out of side hustle work.

Businesses are willing to spend big bucks on people who can get real results from Facebook ads. If you get really good at it, there are many people making multiple six figures running ad campaigns for businesses. If you’re good you can get a steady stream of repeat customers producing a ton of extra money on the side of your day job.

64. Landscaping Business

If you like working with your hands and want to do all of the work yourself, you can make a nice little side-hustle income from picking up the random landscaping job.

Or if you prefer to just pick up the leads, you can subcontract out the work itself and build a little business that can mostly run without you. You handle the clients and advertising, the contractor handles the work – win/win!

65. Computer & Phone Repair

Computers and phones aren’t going anywhere, and as long as we need them for our everyday life, we’ll need someone to fix them when we drop them on the concrete or can’t figure out why a button stopped working.

If you like working with your hands and are interested in electronics, this can be a low-stress way to make some extra cash in your spare time.

66. Drone Photo/Video for Real Estate Agents

Drone footage adds a ton to a real estate agent’s listing, so charge them accordingly for getting those epic aerial shots.

67. Couch Flipping

Most people just want that old couch gone. Buy it for a low price, clean it up, and re-list it higher. It can be an extremely profitable side gig.

68. Furniture Assembly

IKEA and other furniture is hard to assemble – charge people to assemble it for them.

69. Design Tinder Profiles for People

If you have a knack for writing compelling copy, people will pay good money for you to make them look better in their profile description.

70. Flipping Cars

flipping cars side hustle

Are you good at car repairs? You can easily make $500+ a month flipping a car. One idea is to just search “Fastest selling cars for $6000” and message all the sellers of that car locally with an offer for $3000-$4000. If you can get 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 to say “yes”, you can do some minor repairs if necessary and relist it for $6000 to make some cash.

71. Notary Service

You can make $100 per week easily as a notary (you just need to get certified by the state).

72. Gumball Machines at Restaurants

You can buy these types of machines, and set them up at restaurants. You need to be somewhat mechanically inclined for maintenance, but it’s not hard to learn. For example, you buy bulk gumballs for $25, sell all of them for $225 over time, and restock.

73. Referee for Youth Games

Basketball, football, soccer, etc. all need refs. Learn the rules and make some extra cash refereeing on nights and weekends.

This is a seasonal business that really takes off in the summer months, but can make you several hundred dollars per day.

75. Flipping Phones Locally

Buy phones with cracked screens or other minor repairs, fix it up, and sell it for a profit. Newer phones are harder to do this on, so stick with the older models.

76. Business Coach

Have experience in running a business as a higher level manager? You might have enough experience to advise others on their business. A business will happily pay you $10,000 if you will help them make an extra $50,000.

77. Sales Coaching

If you’re an experienced salesman, you can run seminars on the weekends teaching others your knowledge.

78. Life Coach

Prefer the one-on-one connection of advising people on their life habits and direction? This may be ideal for you.

The pay is typically less for a life coach than a business coach (as it’s not directly impacting someone’s income), but it’s still a great side hustle. Who knows, maybe in 10 years you’ll be the next Tony Robbins!

79. Proofreading

proofreading side hustle

Have a gift with correcting other people’s grammar and punctuation? This is a simple way to make an extra income as writers are always in need of someone to proofread their latest work.

80. House sitting

This is the easiest job of them all, especially if you’re single with no other family/pets to take care of. This works best for higher end clients, and you have to be extremely trustworthy – but once you build up a reputation, word of mouth can spread fast.

81. Rent Out Your Tools

Most people don’t want to drop hundreds or thousands of dollars on tools that they need for one or two days, so if you have tools laying around (chainsaw, generator, drills, etc.), you can use those to start bringing in extra cash.

If you want to take it to the next level, you could buy a used Bobcat type machine for $20,000 and rent it out. Rent it for $300 per day for only 67 days, and you’ve paid for the entire thing – everything after that is profit.

82. Buy an Existing Website

If you don’t want to start your own online store or website, and prefer to take over something that’s already working (and have the cash), this can be a great way to quickly start bringing in side hustle income. You can buy an online retail business or blogs on sites like Flippa.

83. Buy an Existing Business

Similar to buying an existing blog, except for this is a business in a physical location. This is less of a side hustle and more of a full time gig, but there are still businesses for sale that are automated most of the way that won’t drain too much of your time. You can look at business for sale at sites like BizBuySell.

84. Data Analyst

Businesses are using tools like PowerBi more and more to provide them with actionable data to make their operation more efficient. If you’re good with numbers and Excel, this can be a lucrative way to earn some side income on a freelance basis.

85. RV/Boat Storage Lot

Buy a lot, fence it in, and rent it out for RV’s, Boats, and Trailer storage. You’ll need some capital to start with (or you can learn about creative ways to get financing with little or no money down on sites like BiggerPockets) but this can be a great way to earn some passive money on the side for just providing a space for people to park their things.

86. Home Organization Consultant

If you love organizing your own home, your friend’s closet, and everywhere else you go, you can make some extra money going to other people’s houses and giving them advice on how to organize their space.

You can also provide organizing shelving units and charge them extra to install them. Expect to charge $80+ per hour in most areas.

87. Write Children’s Books

writing kid's book side hustle

Have an idea for a children’s book? You can write the book and outsource the illustrations on Fiverr, and sell it as an Ebook on Amazon or take it to the next level and get it printed.
